Rondell Sheridan - March 30, 2007
Here are some of the highlights from
the Interview.
Raul: What it was like
to be on Raven?
Rondell Sheridan: You
know it was a good experience but it was one of those
things in which you didn't really know. I don't have kids.
So my only feedback was from when I would see parents
who had kids that they really enjoyed the show and then
really getting the concept of how hard it is to have kids,
leave them alone and watch television and it was a type
of show that parents enjoy, and that was a big deal for
them. They said normally parents would sit down with their
kids and read a book or something else and they said you
know we really looked forward to the next episode of That's
So Raven. So that was a really good thing. We had
a really great cast and I don't think it will be awhile
before I work with someone that's as talented as Raven
and I just see things going better and better and bigger
and bigger for her cause she was just phenomenal.
Raul: And like you said
with bringing families together, it's one of those things
where familes come together for certain shows and Raven
was definitely one of them because it was so good that
it could be part of a primetime line-up on any network,
cause it was so well done.
Rondell Sheridan: I was
really, our first year a lot of people don't know this
our show was a year in advance because our first season
we shot the entire show and we were down eleven months
before we shot season two, so when we had all that down
time I was thinking Disney owns ABC. They were talking
about bringing TGIFridays back. It would've been
a great TGIFridays show and it would've been
a really great primetime show. But ya know it's Disney.
They did very well with it, it's all over the world so
I'm very happy about that.
Raul: And of course it's
on DVD.
Rondell Sheridan: Really
it's on DVD? I didn't know that... I gotta go check that
out.
Raul: Now that Raven
has ended and on good terms obviously...
Rondell Sheridan: Yeah,
there's a rumor that she's going to be making an appearance
on Cory In The House. There's a rumor.
Raul: Now Cory In
The House, you're in it and Kyle is Cory. He's in
the house so to speak. Now how did you guys end up in
the White House?
Rondell Sheridan: There
was a guy campaigning to be the president and he came
by my restaurant and liked my food so much of course,
cause Victor Baxter is the best cook in the world and
he said Hey if I become president I'm going to have you
be the chef of the White House and so unlike The Jefferson's
we moved on down to the basement of The White House, and
that's where we are. This is really exciting because this
is the first time Disney has done a spin-off and as much
as I've given the accolades for Raven who when she came
she was 15 or 16 when she started working, she was so
polished and so professional. When I look back at the
early episodes of Kyle on the show clearly eight, nine
years old, but he now is so great. Now I've been saying
that if Raven went another year it would've been hard
to hide how talented Kyle's become. So him getting his
own show is just... it's like the prince waiting to become
king. Ya know he's looking at the throne going I'm ready
for it and he really is. He's become a really good comic
actor.
