John D'Aquino - June 15, 2007

Here are some of the highlights from the Interview.

Raul: Mr. President how did you get such a great chef in the White House?

John D'Aquino: I was out in San Francisco and I was testing out the local delicacies and came across some incredible Gumbo and the chef Victor Baxter and actually I just swooped him right up and brought him over to Washington and it’s been bliss ever since.

Raul: It certainly spiced things up at the White House a bunch.

John D'Aquino: Yeah it did because he brought his son Cory with him. That was an unexpected pleasure.

Raul: Now the whole story with Cory In The House is that you say you bring them out to Washington DC and they live at the White House fulltime now and Cory is somewhat of a troublemaker from what I seem to remember.

John D'Aquino: Yeah, Cory tends to get me in trouble as well. This is a little troubling. He got me in trouble with the Russian Prime Minister. He actually gave away the deed to Alaska - he gave it back to the Russians so he helped me figure out a way, of course he always helps me get it back. Kyle Massey is wonderful as Cory and it’s a great premise, he finds his way in and out of the oval office and in and out of every state matter. So, it’s a lot of fun.

Raul: Now what’s the set like, the Oval Office set?

John D'Aquino: I actually did a show called That’s My Bush on Comedy Central about five years ago and we had a White House set in there and this is actually better, it’s very nice, it’s large, it’s I don’t know if you’re aware of this but it’s Oval! And it’s fascinating. The first, ah we have some funny stuff coming up and I was very proud of our show because it’s difficult for shows to find their way quickly and I really thought in the first episode my gosh everybody seems to know who they are right away. I think they cast very well. It’s written very well that always helps, it’s on the page, and you we can normally get it up on the stage.
