NKOTBSB the perfect union, Kicking Daisies and Disney stars at A Time for Heroes, New song by Brittany Hargest, Varsity Fanclub covers Lady Gaga,

Earlier this year when the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block announced they’d be releasing an album and touring together I was a little interested, but not much more than that. It’s been almost a month since the album and tour kicked off and in hindsight, the idea is one worth taking a deeper look at since I’m sure we’ll see more efforts along these lines.
It’s a fact that the Music Industry is really struggling. In terms of its future, there are basically two camps – the first is that we need to do everything we can do shut down piracy which has caused the business to collapse. The other, suggests that those within’ the business have become stagnant and need to reinvent themselves and give us a better reason to buy their product. For those of you wanting to know what’s working and who’s reinventing… it’s NKOTBSB.
This summer is offering many similar scenarios with top selling acts from the past joining forces to tour the country, including:
• Debbie Gibson & Tiffany
• Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger
• Motley Crue and Poison
To be honest, I’d love to see all of those shows… hopefully, I’ll get to catch one. But after seeing NKOTBSB in Chicago, IL last Saturday, it’s apparent they’ve created something new that no one else is offering. What NKOTBSB presents is two similar acts from different era’s coming together for a show that celebrates the best of the boy bands (and even bad boys Donnie Wahlberg and A.J. McLean). The end result is a show that draws interest from a larger base which in the end translates into a show that’s selling out night after night, while others are struggling. Did you know that tickets for a considerable amount of Britney Spears tour dates have been sold via Groupon at 50% off?
What’s even better is that the magic formula doesn’t end there. NKOTBSB choreographed an amazing show that unites them on stage, and then has them alternating hit after hit after hit. By the end of the night, they’ve blown through almost forty tracks that include some great mashup elements, including Everybody Backstreets Back being set to AC/DC’s Back In Black. You just never knew what to expect at the end of each song… would you get the other act, would they be appearing at the end of the stage, out in the crowd, what hit single would they be performing, and what new visual effects would be added to the mix? This brought so much energy to the show, and the audience stayed red hot the entire night enjoying every minute of it. In the end, the two acts created a one of a kind of experience where they both ended up on top. Once again, the genius part was combining two acts from different eras. I found that it made it a lot harder to compare them and the end result was that I could enjoy the show for what it was. You know for sure, had BSB teamed up with Nsync the only thing fans would be talking about would be – who the better act was.
No matter what perspective you look at the NKOTBSB show, it’s a winner. While I know I’ll catch flack for it, I’m not afraid to admit that in my opinion what I saw was the best arena show I’d seen in the last ten years. Great songs, memorable performances, amazing visuals, and one crowd that helped create a moment I’ll never forget. Now what I’m curious to see is who’s going to try something like this next, and what other variations they might use. Yes… Backstreet is Back, along with the New Kids on the Block and I highly recommend you check it out what they’ve come up with.

Some of our favorites lend their talents for a good cause! Kicking Daisies poses with Disney Channel stars (L-R): Allisyn Arm, Bella Thorne, and Kenton Duty in addition to Pia Mia and Remy Thorne at A Time For Heroes to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

The wait is over! The debut single by Brittany Hargest, Love All The Way can now be heard in it’s entirety! Lovin’ it… you know, this girl is a Star!

Varsity Fanclub recently recorded an acoustic version of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. Check out the music video on YouTube. Next month the group will be releasing a new single titled, Opera.
Have you seen the new poster for Lionsgate’s new thriller, Abduction? Yesterday it showed up on Yahoo! Movies and to say it made Taylor Lautner fans happy would be an understatement. Abduction hits theaters on September 23rd.
