Here’s the latest developments regarding the T2 exclusive on the School Gyrls adding two new members. Around 6pm Pacific, Monica Parales of the School Gyrls answered a barrage of tweets from fans about the news by replying “And then there were 5″. The new members are Lauren Chavez (left) and Sade Austin (right). I’ve also learned that Lauren has dyed her hair red at the request of management so she won’t be confused with the groups original member, Mandy Rain.

This last week showed a lot of promise for Jason Castro. His latest effort, The Love Uncompromised EP shot to the Top 5 on the iTunes album chart. In less than a week, he’ll be hitting the road with Matt Hires and this spring you can look forward to his self-titled full length release.

On February 16th, a new compilation album called Preservation: An Album to Benefit Preservation Hall & The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program will be released featuring a new song by Brandi Carlile called Old Rugged Cross. As the title suggests, proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit New Orleans’ Preservation Hall and The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program and features other artists like Andrew Bird, Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits, Paolo Nutini, Ani DeFranco, and many others. The album will include 19 tracks and also have a deluxe edition with a bonus disc featuring 5 more tracks.
