Syd Youth checks in after Jingle Ball performance, Nick Jonas makes a statement and Jingle Ball, The Stand Up Tour with The House On Cliff and Hollywood Ending visit Florida, An Awesome Day In The Life of Echosmith, Clips from Tonight Alive special show at Koko, The Band Perry’s Grammy Nomination, Makenzie Ziegler and Dance Moms stars visiting the East Coast

December 7th, 2014

New Hotline! Sheela, Tess and Ashley of the EDM Pop Girl Group, Syd Youth, called in to share about the group and recap their recent performance at the KIIS FM Jingle Ball. Plus, find out the latest on their EP coming out later this month. To listen, click here.

Billboard.com has a great recap of the KIIS FM Jingle Ball concert. According to reviewer Colin Stutz, “Nick Jonas received one of the most piercing applauses of the night.” Long time fans got a special treat as well when Demi Lovato joined Nick for their song, Avalanche.

Last night, thousands of Floridians got a special treat as The Stand Up Tour visited Celebration Town Center. The lineup included IM5, Hollywood Ending, The House On Cliff, Danielle Prou, Tristan Blaine, Izzy Malik, Jessie Chris, Robbie Rosen, Aishlinn Kivlighin, and My Only Escape.

Highlights included a stellar performance by The House On Cliff, who quickly made a lot of attendees into fans with their classic rock inspired tracks and one of the best covers of the folk song, The House of the Rising Sun that you will ever hear. While the band as a whole was phenomenal, you can’t help getting mesmerized by the fretwork by Charles Coleman.

After taking a month off the road, Hollywood Ending, was recharged and ready to rock a short but oh so sweet highly charged 25 minute set that included the new track Zero Gravity. Definitely, the best show I’ve seen them perform to date.

As a whole, it was a really great lineup that offered a lot of musical variety. Jessie Chris brought a fun Country element, Danielle Prou had some great original material and awesome cover of Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars. Robbie Rosen closed out the show by effortlessly showing his vocal talents that helped him advance to the Top 8 boys on Season 10 of American Idol and of course, IM5 more the filled shoes of the ‘boyband’ spot on the bill.

Major props out to the Strega Entertainment Group for putting together a solid showcase of young acts that are definitely not getting the exposure they deserve. It’s no surprise that when you look behind the curtain, the mastermind behind the show was Peggy Iafrate who was the key player in creating the Radio Disney Jingle Jam Tour that provided an great opportunity for acts like Aaron Carter, B5, Drew Seeley, Everlife, Fan_3, Greg Raposo, Jesse McCartney, Jonas Brothers, Keke Palmer, Mitchel Musso, Stevie Brock and T-Squad.

Next weekend the Disney Radio App will be bringing their show to the same venue and it will definitely be interesting to see if they can match the attendance of The Stand Up Tour last night. It’s a safe bet to say they won’t. As we look at these two weekends of shows at Celebration it’ll be pretty clear why Radio Disney died. All the talented people with a passion for what they were doing left or were kicked out the door about seven years ago. As for the people that remained to build this great App? Well, they’re the kind that enjoy expensing first class trips all the way across the country to act like VIPs at gigs that might draw a couple hundred people.

An Awesome Day In The life of Echosmith! Check out the groups new behind the scenes video that recaps their visit to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The VH1 You Oughta Know concert.

Some great videos are online now from Tonight Alive‘s special show last month at Koko where they performed their album, The Other Side, in it’s entirety. One must watch clip features Jenna McDougall recapping her thoughts on the song Say Please prior to the song You Don’t Owe Me Anything. This is a perfect example of why artists that write their own music bring a lot more to their live performances.

The Band Perry received a nomination for the 57th Grammy Awards in Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their stirring interpretation of the Glen Campbell song Gentle On My Mind. Gentle On My Mind is the band’s current single and prominently featured on the soundtrack to the James Keach directed documentary Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.
