The highly anticipated film, Jem and the Holograms ranked 15th at the Box Office this past weekend. Pretty bad? Not really. The budget on this release was only $5 million, compared to $58 million for Goosebumps and $150 million for Pan. In its opening weekend Jem earned approximately $1.32 million which is 25% of what it cost to make it. In other words, it’s safe to say it will end up being a profitable film. Even with Goosebumps total gross of $43 million it’s yet to turn a profit (although it will). However, Pan is guaranteed flop that will cost Warner Bros. millions. Remember it’s not how much you make at the Box Office because you don’t profit until you cover your budget. Jem was never expected to be a blockbuster, but it will most likely turn a nice little profit on a small and safe investment by Universal.
