Happy Record Store Day, Ariana Grande to premiere new single at RDMA’s, Justin Bieber steals a trick from the Jonas Brothers handbook on showing up Drake Bell
Happy Record Story Day! Here’s one amazing disc worth picking up – Paramore‘s Ain’t It Fun 12′ vinyl.
Ariana Grande has announced that she’ll be premiering her new single, Problem, at the Radio Disney Music Awards next Saturday. My hunch is that it will feature some edits. Then on Sunday evening, after the RDMA special on Disney Channel, the song will be released on iTunes.

History always repeats itself. While the tabloids are all over the fact that Justin Bieber showed up at Drake Bell’s album release party to steal his thunder, it’s not exactly the first time something like this has happened. In fact, it’s a lesson Justin learned first hand from the Jonas Brothers.
After finishing 2009 with a ton of buzz, Justin Bieber had clearly proven he was worthy to be the biggest act in teen pop music. Aside from his chart topping single One Time (remember the music video featuring a young Michelle DeFraites), Justin made world news headlines after a fan was injured as a result of a stampede at one of his mall appearances. In fact, his manager Scooter Braun was arrested for not helping to diffuse the dangerous situation. (News Report at YouTube).
Now fast forward to the March of 2010, when Justin Bieber announces the My World Tour just a week before the release of his full-length album, My World 2.0. Within’ the next month almost every show on the tour had sold out and pre-production began. To coincide with the release of the new album, Justin performed a handful of shows, including one in Australia where 8 fans were crushed. Bieber Fever had become a worldwide epidemic.
The first week of May, news surfaced that Justin Bieber would soon be arriving in LA for rehearsals. Then out of the blue, on May 10th, the Jonas Brothers announce they’ll be performing a rare FREE concert to kickoff their Camp Rock 2 summer tour (Facebook post)? That week, I spoke to a few connected people that happened to say, “you know what that show is all about right?” What I was told was that the show had been intentionally booked to coincide with the arrival of Justin Bieber in LA and serve as a message that he wasn’t bigger than the Jonas Brothers. In the end, they achieved what they wanted by packing the mall with thousands of people (including Justin Bieber fans), and to equal the Biebs, they even got sued by a fan that was crushed at the concert. #thinskinnedpopstars
