Coachella Spoof lineup should be leading headlines, Priyanka Bose wears Vivienne Westwood Couture gown to Academy Awards, Layoff at Maker Studios, Get Out debuts at #1

February 27th, 2017

Last week, the organizers of Coachella announced that Beyonce would be dropping out of the lineup which led the news headlines. However, I think the biggest news regarding Coachella this year had nothing to do with the event. It had to do with fan art created featuring teen music acts from a decade ago.

Here are the facts, during the week – the Teen Dream Coachella lineup was viewed more times on social networks than Coachella itself. What’s even more interesting is that nobody even knows where this started because so many different people posted the artwork on their personal accounts.

The time isn’t right, but I think five years from now the money will be there. At least for a one day show, and possibly for an actual tour featuring the bigger acts. Seriously, despite the fact the artwork was fake, a lot of people connected with the idea and loved to dream (even those to too cool for school kids that go to Coachella).

At the 89th Academy Awards, Lion actress Priyanka Bose wore a custom-made eco-conscious Vivienne Westwood Couture gown. The gown was accessorized with exclusive pieces from Atelier Swarovski’s first fine jewelry collection and featured Swarovski crystal in the dress detailing. Both gown and jewelry were worn in support of Suzy Amis Cameron’s Red Carpet Green Dress initiative. In 2009, Amis Cameron created Red Carpet Green Dress with the goal of creating awareness for the importance of sustainable practices in fashion.  Each year, Red Carpet Green Dress works with international designers to create sustainable eveningwear to showcase during the Academy Awards.

The custom designed gown, is created in a jewel toned silk and lurex floral jacquard fabric, recycled from a past Vivienne Westwood collection. The pattern cutting technique has been designed to keep waste to an absolute minimum, using only 320 cms for the design. Leftover sequin film, usually left as waste from sequin production, is embroidered to the bodice of the dress creating a honeycomb effect, highlighted with reclaimed Swarovski crystals for added sparkle.

Last week, Variety reported troubles at Disney’s Maker Studios and that they’d be laying of 80 staffers in their publishing and digital media division.

Candie’s reveals the brand’s spring ’17 campaign and first collection co-designed and influenced by Candie’s Creative Director Sarah Hyland!

In her role as Candie’s Creative Director, Sarah worked with the design team to create a spring ’17 collection that takes inspiration from her life with details the Candie’s girl will appreciate, including hummingbird embroidered denim and a reversible lace bomber that have special meaning to the stylish and confident Modern Family actress. Sarah led the development of the campaign, from the concept to styling each look and selecting fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth to shoot for Candie’s at a seaside villa in Santa Monica.

Where did it go? Jump5’s second album, All The Time In The World (released Aug. 13, 2002) has disappeared from the iTunes Store, Amazon, and Google Play?

Katelyn Tarver continues to get some buzz about her upcoming EP Tired Eyes. Check out her new interview with Nylon. In it she looks back at her eight years in L.A. and the fact she still appreciates the compliments fans give her for her role as Jo Taylor on Big Time Rush.

Why Amazon? I already mentioned how many times they turn a blind eye to vendors selling counterfeit goods but how about this. What about the price gouging they’re allowing with Apple AirPods that retail for $159. Of course, there is a waiting list of over a month to get them from Apple. However, Amazon will gladly sell you new and used models for over $300! So much for Amazon always having the best price.

Fresh from hosting this year’s Teen Choice Awards, actress and singer Victoria Justice attended the annual Mack-a-poolooza music festival in Miami Beach, FL on Saturday, August 13th.

Adele passes on the show of all shows – the Super Bowl. Saturday at her concert in Los Angeles the singer said “First of all, I’d like to say that I’m not doing the Super Bowl… I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really put on… I don’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no.” #WELLSTATED

Rooney is back at it again with a new lineup, new sound, and a brand new album, Washed Away. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Robert Schwartzman and co. brought the sunny West Coast vibes all the way to Baeble’s HQ in Brooklyn for an acoustic session featuring some cuts from the new album.

Yesterday marked the 15th Anniversary since the release of Jump5’s self-titled debut release on Sparrow Records. Fans looking for a trip down memory lane should check out Part 2 of Brandon Hargest’s trip to San Francisco where he relives some of the memories.
