2012 Teen Choice Awards recap, Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat Day 2, Allstar Weekend releases new lyric video, Midnight Red receives media coverage for their recent show, Jamie Grace will be on The View, Flashback Photo of Corbin Bleu, Hallmark releases Text Bands

July 23rd, 2012

Last night the 2012 Teen Choice Awards actually took a turn in a positive direction. Of course there was plenty of TV and Film promotion, including a complete opening segment all about X-Factor. However, hosts Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale were a huge improvement from past years when the show had to censor the off-color humor of Dane Cook.

Musically, it was fun seeing No Doubt return to perform their single Settle Down. Despite the years, they managed to get over quite well with the crowd. Flo Rida‘s performance of Wild One went of the charts when he went off the front row to sing to Taylor Swift (who was loving every moment of it). Justin Bieber had a futuristic inspired performance of Boyfriend/As Long As You Love Me that was visually entertaining without going overboard. The only mishap that occurred was when a Comcast commercial cut off the song at the bridge in some areas of the country. Carly Rae Jepsen closed out the show with her hit, Call Me Maybe. It featured a video wall of celebs that had pre-recorded themselves singing to the song… and of course just about every person in the building was singing along.

Other random tidbits:

• The standout moment of the night featured Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart giving the surfboards they won to fans in the front row.

• How does Zac Efron manage to make the “head scratch” pose so natural?

Samantha Droke ended up with the best seat in the house. In the front row with Selena Gomez on her left and Taylor Swift on her right.

• The Teen Choice Awards set a new record with over 134 million votes. If you crunch the numbers though, that’s approximately 1.5 million people that voted in every category.

• You probably were the only one that new Kevin McHale was in a boy band named NLT. At T2, we began writing about them after the guys attended the Kids’ Choice Awards on April 14, 2003.

For the 12th year in a row, Backstage Creations produced the Celebrity Retreat at Teen Choice 2012 at the Gibson Amphitheater. A lot of fun was had by all the celebs that attended and they all scored some amazing items!

So what did you think of those shoes Carly Rae Jepsen wore last night on stage? Believe it or not, she picked up those iiJin shoes at the Celebrity Retreat just hours before the show! Twilight stars Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli and Nikki Reed got to select McFadin luggage and handbags which are made in Texas by sisters Stacy and Laurie McFadin. Peyton List from Jessie and Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days loved her new sneakers from Ryka. Peyton said, “Perfect!  I really needed running shoes.  These are so cool!” Jordin Sparks became an instant fan of LENA Jewelery. After selecting some of the limited edition, hand-made jewelery, Jordin said, “These are amazing!  I will wear them all the time.”  Celebs wrote messages on the Office Depot Born This Way Foundation empowerment wall. Kendall Jenner: “Dream big, work hard!”  Kylie Jenner: “Love yourself.”  Kevin Hart: “Live, love & laugh.  Life is too short.”

Allstar Weekend has a new low-budget lyric video for their song, The American Dream. Check it out on YouTube.

On Saturday, the plug got pulled on Midnight Red‘s Teen Choice pre-party show at The Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Apparently the clubs smoke canisters malfunctioned and the room filled with smoke so thick people couldn’t see. About two dozen fans were treated by paramedics after feeling sick and having trouble breathing (six were sent to the hospital). Shortly after the incident, the Fire Marshall decided to shut down the show. The story was picked up by local FOX channels and featured after the Teen Choice Awards last night. Sherri Shepherd announced via Twitter that Jamie Grace will be appearing on The View tomorrow. Awesome!
