Forget passing notes in homeroom. In the YouTube era, “will you go to prom with me?” is all about video and to get a date, you’d better be creative! “Promposals” are getting bigger and better every year. In fact, Google Search interest in “promposals” has increased more than 800% in the last year alone.

Too close to call! In the Tween/Teen music marketplace it’s a toss up as to who sold the most units leading up to Easter. According to early estimates Shake It Up 3 soundtrack has sold 20,635 and One Direction: Take Me Home has sold 20,241. I guess we’ll just have to wait to see what SoundScan says.

Yesterday I ran across a Tweet that I wanted to answer, but there just wasn’t enough space. So here’s my take on why I believe Victoria Justice “is” an opening act on the Summer Break Tour 2013.

It’s not a question of who’s better, it’s who’s got the greater body of work. When it comes to sales, radio and touring Big Time Rush clearly has the upper hand.

Because of these stats it means more people are familiar with Big Time Rush which means they will sell more tickets. Would you want to see Victoria finish the night with 1/2 of the venue empty when the majority of the audience (BTR fans) leave? Back in the day I remember hearing about a group that asked to open for a less successful group on a national tour. Why? Because they realized that when it came to the performance, that group’s years of dancing would be a tough act to follow. Based on top selling albums, hit singles and choreography from previous tours Big Time Rush will be a hard act to follow. If Victoria Justice finishes the show, she will appear a lot weaker to your average concert goer than if she performs first. If you were her manager would you want to put her in this situation? I’m confident she’ll not only go on first, but she’ll perform a shorter set than Big Time Rush. To help balance it out, I’m guessing they’ll bring her out at the end with Big Time Rush and everybody will leave feeling good about both acts. Call it a double-headliner, but if one act is always first and plays a shorter set it’s fair to say that they are “the opener.”

On March 18th, Savannah Outen flew to Baltimore to meet 16 year-old, Bo – a pediatric oncology patient at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center who was paired with the artist this past summer through Music is Medicine’s Donate a Song project. After speaking with Bo over the phone, Savannah wrote and recorded an original song called Brave & True in his honor. The song will be released at iTunes on Tuesday, April 16th along with a music video filmed with Bo at the hospital. All proceeds will benefit pediatric oncology research at Johns Hopkins.

Donate a Song is the fusion of music and charity to change lives. Savannah is the second artist to participate in the Donate a Song project – a program of Music is Medicine, an organization founded by Princeton junior Leora Friedman when she was in high school and currently run by a team of Princeton students. The project aims to encourage celebrities to write and record an original song for a seriously-ill child. Savannah’s uplifting song and music video will be sold to raise money for pediatric oncology research at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and will inspire patients and people everywhere.

The Band Perry gave a special performance in their hometown of Greeneville, TN, debuting new music from their sophomore album, Pioneer. An estimated crowd of 25,000 took to the streets of the small mountain town to see the famous residents and a chance meeting in the autograph line that stretched nearly a mile down Main Street. With an invitation from The Band Perry, via Twitter, fans came from all over — from Florida, Iowa, Texas and even Canada.

The event, which was presented by the Greene County Partnership and sponsored by General Mills and Outnumber Hunger, is believed to be the largest in recorded history in the East Tennessee town. The Band Perry is among the pioneers putting this quaint town on the map and they were aptly recognized with a Proclamation honoring them, signed by Governor Bill Haslam and presented by State Representative David Hawk.

Yesterday, Disney Insider premiered a behind-the-scenes video of our all-new gaming initiative, Disney Infinity. Universal CityWalk sets the Stage for Spring Break with its free Spring Music Spotlight Series at 5 Towers, featuring an All-Star Line Up. Roshon Fegan will be joined by rising star and CityWalk Street Performer, Chelsea Williams this Friday.
