Radio Disney N.B.T. doesn’t reward the winners, Greyson Chance to premiere new video, Jordan Pruitt covers Natasha Bedingfield, Jennette McCurdy has the holiday spirit, Video of Jump5 reunion, Details on Allie Gonino’s new act – The Good Mad, Adele receives a pick on the Radio Disney Music Mailbag

December 7th, 2011

Today is the day! Radio Disney will announce the winner of the Next Big Thing – Season 4. Either way, Shealeigh and Zack Montana are winners in my book despite my opinions on this contest that has a troubled past. At one time, Radio Disney used the phrase “Your Music, Your Way.” What they’ve proved in the past three years is that it doesn’t matter what their audience thinks, they’re going to do what they want, particularly with this contest.

It couldn’t have been more obvious after Season 1 of the N.B.T. when your winners, Jonnie & Brookie were promptly shown the exit. Did you know that since they won, Radio Disney has never played one of their songs on-the-air? To make matters worse, a few weeks after the contest Radio Disney went ahead and added Season 1 acts – Allstar Weekend and Comic Book Heroes to their playlist. Granted, you know I’m a fan of both of those acts, but that is just plain wrong.

Last year during Season 3, there was the incident where the majority of votes were thrown out (see news Dec. 23, 2010). Kicking Daisies went on to win it, but were they who Radio Disney wanted? Once again, just take a look at programming last month and it was N.B.T. Season 3 contestant Coco Jones who received more airplay than the winner Kicking Daisies.

Additional thoughts… Radio Disney has yet to add the following songs that you voted to PICK on the Music Mailbag.

Aug. 20th
Debby Ryan f/ Chad & Chase: We Ended It Right (70 percent pick)

Sept. 17th
Action Item: Learn To Fly

Nov. 12th
Pia Mia & Bella Thorne: Bubblegum Boy (82 percent pick)

Nov. 19th
OMG Girlz: Gucci This, Gucci That (78 percent pick)

This Friday, The Ellen DeGeneres Show will host the premiere of the music video, Hold On ‘Til The Night by Greyson Chance.

After taking off a few months from YouTube, Jordan Pruitt is back with a new cover. This time it’s the song Wild Horses by her favorite vocalist, Natasha Bedingfield.

Also adding to her list of covers is Jennette McCurdy. Get into the spirit with her a cappella performance of Grown Up Christmas List.

Okay… this just got cooler! Brittany Hargest has posted a video of the Jump5 get together on YouTube. Be sure to watch Brandon, Brittany, Chris, Libby, and Lesley sing and walk through the choreography of Spinnin’ Around after all these years.

Hollywood Life has the exclusive on Allie Gonino‘s (The Lying Game) new band, The Good Mad. To get a preview of their folk-americana sound, you can check out a performance of their song, Good Ol’ Life on YouTube.

Over the weekend, the single Set Fire To The Rain by Adele received a 77 percent pick on the Radio Disney Music Mailbag.
