Former Radio Disney N.B.T. gets the short end of the stick, Mindless Behavior brings out the fans and security to MOA, SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip for Nintendo DS giveaway, Pia Mia and Bella Thorne’s Bubblegum Boy get’s 3 more spins on Radio Disney, Track list and release date for Joyful Noise soundtrack, Owl City to release live show on February 7th, Dia Frampton poses with new CD

December 12th, 2011

T2 Exclusive: Do you hear me now? You’d think I was psychic with my thoughts on the Radio Disney N.B.T. contest last week. My key point was that the winner almost always gets the short end of the stick and that over the last year Radio Disney pushed 2010 N.B.T. runner up Coco Jones harder than the winner Kicking Daisies. Well, to add insult to injury Radio Disney also invited Coco Jones to perform on Saturday at the special show in Celebration, FL to salute the new winner. Then the tweets began… a ton of praise for Coco Jones, and only one mention of Kicking Daisies. Ouch!

They prepared for the worst… but it went okay. Yesterday, Mindless Behavior stopped by the heavily guarded fortress – aka Mall of America to meet with fans and sign autographs. During their two hour visit, they signed over 1,000 autographs and sent many kisses, waves, and winks to the upper levels. To see a short recap of the event that aired on WCCO’s 10pm News, visit YouTube. Based on the security, it seems as if they haven’t forgot what happened five years ago when B5 stopped there (prior to the Northtown riot). So what was different about this appearance?

Concert Barricades in front of the stage.
Crowd Control Barricades in waiting areas.
Crowd Control Barricades through the corridor to protect the group.
-Escalators were turned off and blocked.
-Additional Police (K9 unit) and Security.

Just in time for the holidays! We’ve got copies of THQ’s SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip game on Nintendo DS to giveaway. How can you get one? Just watch this video and look for the six silhouettes of Patrick hidden the video (hint… the first one is at :06). Then send an email to spongebob@tommy2.net with the approximate times you see the six silhouettes, along with your name, address and phone number. Then on Sunday the 18th at 10pm CST, we’ll randomly draw 1 Grand Prize winner and 1 Runner up. For official rules, click here.

It’s on, like Donkey Kong! In a follow up to yesterday’s exclusive on Pia Mia and Bella Thorne‘s single, Bubblegum Boy, Radio Disney gave their new single three more spins (6:49am, 4:09pm, and 8:54pm ET). Yes, that’s definitely call “in rotation.”

August 12th, 2011

Sad news! Yesterday, Miranda Cosgrove‘s tour bus grazed a semi truck while traveling through Illinois. As a result of the collision, Miranda broke her ankle and has postponed her Dancing Crazy summer tour until further notice. Please keep Miranda in your thoughts and prayers in addition to her mother who was hurt badly, and the bus driver who is in critical condition.

First look! The artwork for Allstar Weekend‘s upcoming release, All The Way.

To help get fans excited for their upcoming single, Allstar Weekend has posted a preview of their lyric video for Blame It On September. A quick scan through the comments shows that their fans were not pleased to see that Nathan Darmody wasn’t included in the video tags.

Allstar Weekend Concert Review, Collectible of the month, Selena Gomez in Times Square, Crystal Bowersox to release debut on December 14th, Leona Lewis pushed back, The Wannabes starring Savvy airs on HBO Family Latin America, Alpha and Omega coming on January 11th

November 12th, 2010

The road warriors, better known as Allstar Weekend paid a visit to Minneapolis, MN last night with their Suddenly Yours Tour and proved to be a great example of how much things can change in a little over three months. This time around, they extended their set and added one more act to the lineup.

Action Item

New Jersey based Action Item started the night at 5:45pm with songs from their 7 song pop rock release, The Stronger Love. Highlights of their set included Boy With The Microphone and their single heard on Radio Disney, Somewhere Out There. Even though they’re the first act, chances are you’ll rank them the second best act of the night – so don’t be late to the show.

The Scene Aesthetic

Performing second was The Scene Aesthetic featuring Andrew de Torres (Danger Radio) and Eric Bowley. The duo were backed by a live band that included Andy Brookins (Danger Radio) playing tracks from their brand new release, Brother. Despite having good music, it felt a little awkward with Eric standing their with nothing to do while Andrew sang lead. Even with a solid set turned in by the best musicians of the night, it fell flat based on the amount of mid tempo tunes. I’d be willing to bet the crowd would’ve been significantly more receptive if Andrew was wearing his other hat and fronting Danger Radio. Be sure to check them out if your looking for some funk infused pop rock with danceable beats.

Stephen Jerzak

Stephen Jerzak‘s recent success on the internet drew a strong following but his performance proved to be more a reflection of Hans Christian Anderson’s, The Emperor’s New Clothes than a breakout hit. Sadly, the majority of the audience fell for the show that would’ve sounded the same if the stage was empty… well, except for a few ear piercing notes by Stephen that had every dog within’ 20 miles barking. I literally felt as if I was watching Spinal Tap part 2 when keyboard player Adam Chojnacki made a horrific facial expression when he realized he was singing into a live microphone, what he did next was something I’d never seen before. He unplugged the cord and started singing again. To be fair, drummer Tyler Humphrey was not only a great showman, but a decent player and made the best of the situation he was in.

Allstar Weekend – 51 minutes

Different Side Of Me
Catching Up
Hey Princess
Can’t Sleep Tonight
Magic (cover of B.o.B. f/ Rivers Cuomo)
Clock Runs Out
Come Down With Love
Amy
You’re Still The One (cover of Shania Twain)
Journey To The End Of My Life (Acoustic)
Here With You
The Weekend
Dance Forever

The second Allstar Weekend hit the first note for Different Side Of Me it was obvious they were back and better than ever. You couldn’t help but notice their high energy level as the guys looked strong and confident with every move. Well, except until Cameron slipped while jumping onto the drum riser and bit it big time during Hey Princess. Of course the band played on and not believing what he just saw, Michael couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. I guess that goes to show how funny Allstar Weekend can be, even when they don’t try.

One of the new elements to the tour are new cover songs and the first one played was hit single, Magic by B.o.B. f/ Rivers Cuomo with Nathan doing the lead vocals. Definitely a must see and a great way to pull in those at the show unfamiliar with their music. In a few songs we saw another new element to the show when Zach brought a girl up on stage to sing to during Amy. The chosen one last night was named Brie and her interactions with Zach and her friends in the front row had everyone going nuts. Definitely a must see! Nathan played the keys for this track and the next one as well which was a cover of Shania Twain’s, You’re Still The One. Of course, a rock out version.

The group then came to the center of the stage for a stripped down version of their first single, Journey to The End Of My Life that included Michael’s rap and ended with the crowd singing the chorus. It was followed by Here With You, a quick rundown of the guys in the band and then into overdrive as they approached the final song, Dance Forever. The track immediately led to the crowd jumping and Nathan and Cameron dropped their guitars after the bridge to join in on the fun before saying goodbye.

Best Song: Amy
Pros: Allstar Weekend, Allstar Weekend, and Allstar Weekend. Public Meet & Greet after the show where the headliners showed plenty of love to their fans.
Cons: The show was a bit long, and each set change between acts lasted longer than the actual sets. Also, I prefer quality over quantity but Allstar Weekend is going to have to start extending their set. This time, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt based on time restraints and the venue locking doors by 9:45pm.

It’s been five years since B5 gave Radio Disney’s Jingle Jam a little bit of added publicity when their fans rushed the stage at Brookdale Center. As a result, the mall was shut down and over 70 squad cars were sent to help remove fans from the premises with dogs, pepper spray and guns (with rubber bullets). The event received worldwide coverage and was featured on TV programs like Inside Edition (click here to see the feature). Pictured above, are the actual passes worn by Carnell, Dustin and Kelly Breeding of the group at the event.
