Happy Mother’s Day!

Yesterday afternoon Mindless Behavior returned to Minneapolis, MN for a special performance at Epic Nightclub featuring music from their new release, All Around The World.

It was obvious that fans had been anxious to see the boys again after their last show in town at Mall of America 17 months ago. Around 7am the line began to form outside the club as the temperatures hovered in the low 40′s.

After pumping the crowd for a few minutes – Princeton, Prodigy, Ray Ray, and Roc Royal emerged on stage as the club erupted. The guys took a more casual approach to this special show, however it led to a lot more interaction with the fans and made for some memories that many will never forget. As the show progressed the crowd continued to push toward the front resulting in the music being stopped just after two songs. After the short break, Mindless Behavior returned to finish up their 30 minute set, which was followed by a VIP session. Of course this was all just a hint of what’s to come when then guys officially hit the road this summer with a full set that will include choreography, wardrobe and more. Trust me, it’ll definitely be worth adding to your to-do list this summer.

These two look excited! Megan and Liz will premiere their new single, Release You on June 1st and make it available for download June 4th at iTunes. The two also plan on putting out a lyric video for the song as well and they need your help. Visit MeganAndLiz.com for complete details.

This is it! You have until 11:59pm CST to cast 25 votes for the Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contestants at Macys.iHeart.com/Macys. I just put in mine for Kalin & Myles… hint, hint.

Hollywood Records signs Bella Thorne, Aaron Carter Concert Review, Bean to release new music

March 30th, 2013

How ironic? Yesterday the lead story at T2 was about Hollywood Records struggling to find new breakout acts after Bob Cavollo’s departure. Well guess what? Once again they’ve gone back to the same well to sign another familiar face – Bella Thorne. In all honesty, the girl is champ in my book and deserves all the credit for the success of Shake It Up, but musically it’s safe to say she’s not in the same category as Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez.

After his stay on Broadway, Aaron Carter is back and doing a small venue tour titled The After Party. This tour is simply to get the fans back into his music and to put his name back out there while he prepares to record new music in the future. Aaron does not play or promote new material at all on this tour.

Doors opened at 6pm and the show began promptly at 7pm. To open the show was a solo artist named Chris. Chris did poorly with promotion and was clearly nervous on stage. He refrained from mentioning his last name let alone any of his song titles or shameless plugs. He performed three songs while pacing the stage and was quick to exit when his set was complete.

Quiet Out Loud, a local rock group, came on next and really got the crowd into the performance. They performed five songs and announced their music will be available on iTunes soon. During Quiet Out Loud’s set Aaron could be seen from the balcony giving thumbs up, instructing the fans to clap, and video taping both the band and the fans. The crowd was really hyped up and ready to party.

Things settled down pretty fast, the following act, Nikki Flores didn’t come out until an hour after Quiet Out Loud had left the stage. Fans became restless and not many people seemed to get into Nikki’s set. Nikki sang three songs including Rebel and Underwater. She promoted her T-shirts and merchandise and announced her CD was available for sale at the table (but not available online to date).

After Nikki, the Petrel Sisters came on the stage. They talked about they met Aaron many years ago on a plane and have kept in touch with him following that. They performed five songs including their single Bombshell. Their show was up beat and they were received pretty well from the audience.

The chanting began, “Aaron, Aaron, Aaron” could be heard outside the theater! The lights were still dim, the fans were ready, but Aaron was no where to be found. His DJ left the stage, the lights went on, and the house music turned on. Fans were confused and during the hour period between The Petrel Sisters and Aaron coming out, fans were booing, some were even screaming rude statement out of frustration.

Finally Aaron was brought to the stage by his dancers an hour late. Aaron didn’t address the crowd, nothing was announced, he just went straight into his set. Aaron’s set included: Another Earthquake, America A O, When It Comes To You, Bounce, I Would, Iko Iko, To All The Girls, I’m All About You, Leave It Up To Me, Do You Remember, My First Ride, That’s How I Beat Shaq, I Want Candy, and Aaron’s Party. While Aaron’s dance moves and singing voice were on point and really show how talented he really is, Aaron had a hard time getting the fans into his set. Aaron would sing one song, and then step off the stage for a two minute break. The hour show was spent with him half on and half off the stage. He even took time to bring his dancer a cake for his birthday and smashed it in his face when he went to blow out the candles, but then Aaron stepped off for another two minute break. It was sad to see him so out of breath following every song, and the interaction with the crowd was nonexistent which was surprising for someone who use to feed off the fans. If you are an Aaron fan, it is a fun show to see, but just don’t expect it to be the Aaron that we saw the first time around.

As part of the Macy’s/iHeart Radio Rising Star campaign, Bean will be releasing two never before heard songs. The first, Not A Love Song will be released this week on iTunes.

February 5th, 2013

Over two years ago when Shake It Up premiered on Disney Channel, the first scene featured Rocky & Cece dancing on the train platform to BG5‘s infectious dance track Scratch. Shortly after the episode aired Hollywood Records announced they had signed the act. Six months later I had heard BG5′s management couldn’t come to terms with the label and they asked for their release. Late last year, the group under new management changed their name to YLA (Young LA) and began work to hit the ground running in 2013. Next week the group will be headed to the set of Shake It Up to shoot a segment for an upcoming episode. Hmmm… wonder if they might be headed back to Hollywood?

Here’s a little something to get excited about. Yesterday Nick Jonas captured a few moments from the studio on his iPhone and uploaded them to Ustream. It’s not much, but it’s more than enough to get fans excited for the Jo Bros return 2013.
