Quote of the Day:
“This is the 11th week so far this year that the best-selling album in the U.S. has failed to sell even 100,000 copies. There were 11 weeks in all of 2007 and 2008 combined where the best-selling album failed to reach the 100,000 sales threshold.”

It’s official… Disney’s corporate practice of piling on new music week after week and not allowing singles to mature (like mainstream radio) is cannibalizing sales. This week we’ve seen Hannah Montana: The Movie outsell the Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack. Unfortunately this album never had time to mature and see it’s singles go through the growth cycle needed for a hit record. The one thing not showing on these stats is that the Party In The USA single by Miley Cyrus has been dominating iTunes sales for a week and a half. Yes, that’s three new products competing for your disposable income and the history books will reflect albums that didn’t sell well when there’s more to the story.

With her new album all set to top the Billboard chart next week, Colbie Caillat lets her jazzy side out with an amazing cover of the Pussycat Doll’s Don’t Cha on Yahoo.com. Two thumbs up to the lyrical changes as well!

The soundtrack for Whip It! has been moved back to September 29th. Here’s the tracklist. (What… no Stryper?)
