Last night, Demi Lovato’s Tour rolled in Minneapolis, MN. The show was definitely worth checking out and had a lot of obvious strengths and very few weaknesses. As far as the crowd, the majority of the lower lever was sold and spirits were high for this first show for many.
Opening the night was Jordan Pruitt accompanied by her first ever live band. Wow, talk about a serious enhancement to an artist that already had something going. Each song transformed into a whole new creation and if you didn’t notice in the first few bars of Jump To The Rhythm, you noticed that guitar solo! Vocally, Jordan was on and was comfortable in front of the crowd as she continues to grow as a performer. She was able to keep the crowd into her music and active. Her powerful set was almost worth the face value of the ticket alone. You’ll definitely want to be sure to see Jordan while she’s got the band.
Next up, David Archuleta followed with some great songs and his genuine personality. However, by the time he hit song 5, a lot of the audience had taken to their seats. Fortunately, powerful tracks like Apologize and Crush helped things get started up again. David had great interaction with the audience and even reflected on previously being in town when it was 15 degrees during the American Idol tour.
So… what’s the current status of Demi Lovato? Easily, the reigning queen of teen rock. She has transformed into a force to be reckon with in terms of where she can go with her talents. Talk about solid entertainment… only one costume change here. Music was the main focus and wow, did this set pack some powerhouse numbers. When the end came the audience was extremely charged up after an onslaught of rockin’ good tunes. Even though Demi’s voice seemed a bit thin when talking, she was dead on in terms of singing – despite the many reports of her losing her voice on this tour. She was strong, confident and her future looks more promising than ever before. Her talent shined on the Piano, Acoustic Guitar and her favorite Gibson SG throughout the evening. Although the best part was is that she wasn’t afraid to share the stage with her band and they came off as one cohesive unit, opposed to a performer that’s constrains their performers to a tightly confined area. Okay, there was one hiccup… Demi forgot the first verse to Stop The World. No worries she just stopped the song and started over.
This show is ready to rock you. It’s literally worth adding to the things you need to do before heading back to school. Jordan, David and Demi… it’s such a great line-up. Below is a more in depth look at the performances.
