Tonight Alive at Vans Warped Tour 2012, Birdman & Slim of Cash Money give a nod to Savvy in Billboard article, Megan and Liz to perform at Macy’s Glamorama, Jamie Grace to tour with TobyMac in the Fall, Tamar Kaprelian to premiere California music video tomorrow, Selena Gomez flashback photo, Spider-Man #1 at the Box Office, Jesse McCartney working on new film

Yesterday, Vans Warped Tour 2012 rolled into Shakopee, MN for an energetic eight hour show featuring over 70 bands, including newcomers Tonight Alive. Before their performance, the Sydney based act had two separate afternoon autograph sessions – including one with their new sponsor Arnette Sunglasses.
At 5:30pm, Tonight Alive took to the Kevin Says Stage with vocalist Jenna McDougall holding the Australian flag and telling the audience “Let’s have some fun.” Next, the band went full speed ahead into Breaking & Entering off of their new album, What Are You So Scared Of? It was solid and heavy hitting with emotion and definitely the right track to draw in those curious to find out what this act was all about. As the song ended, Matt Best went right to the snare and kick to lead in Starlight. By now it was clear, Jenna really had control of the crowd and didn’t let any opportunities slip to get them involved – including fists in the air on this one. After the two numbers, the band took a break as Jenna let the audience know that Tonight Alive’s message in their music was to “not let your life go to waste.” They followed with Wasting Away and Revenge and It’s Thrills from their five song release Consider This. After those two songs, Jenna requested a pit upfront for their cover of Little Lion Man and by the time the song kicked in, she got what she wanted. Before heading into their final song there was time for a quick Aussie cheer. From start to finish, it was a solid set with great music, highlighted by a great performance. As expected, sound was typical for a festival – slightly below average. Background vocals were extremely muddy and the delay on lead vocals was a bit over the top. In the end though, I don’t think it mattered to those in the mosh pit.

A few other tidbits worth mentioning from Vans Warped Tour 2012. One of the highlights of the day was Yellowcard‘s performance of Ocean Avenue (it’s been 10 years since their first time on the tour). Hard rock act, Dead Sara managed to live up to all of the hype they’ve been getting lately with a stellar performance by vocalist Emily Armstrong. And if you’re wanting to throw your fist in the air, Rise To Remain delivered metal in a major way. Lead guitarist Ben Tovey was beyond amazing – dishing out arpeggios effortlessly and Austin Dickinson (son of Bruce Dickinson, vocalist of Iron Maiden) definitely inherited the skills of being a frontman. Wow!

Billboard has a new extended video online from their cover story on Cash Money Records featuring Birdman & Slim. In it the two talk about branching out and selecting artists that are creative in their own way. Listen close and you’ll heard them mention “Wayne, Nicki, Drake… and Savvy.” Any day now we expect to hear that Savvy will be releasing their party anthem – Young and Reckless.

Chris Wallace – Remember when (Push Rewind)
Justin Bieber f/ Big Sean – As Long As You Love Me
Olly Murs f/ Chiddy Bang – Heart Skips A Beat
P!nk – Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

More Macy’s for Megan & Liz! The twins have been added as performers at Macy’s Glamorama events and will share the bill with Robin Thicke and Karmin on August 3rd in Minneapolis, MN and August 10th in Chicago, IL. The dates for the shows in Los Angeles, CA and San Francisco, CA have yet to be confirmed.

Jamie Grace will be heading out on the road this fall with TobyMac and Chris August.

Tomorrow, Tamar Kaprelian will premiere her new music video for California.

Spidey swings into #1 at the Box Office yet fails to bring in as much cash as the previous Spider-Man six day openings.
