Interview: Megan and Liz

Tommy2: What’s up it’s Tommy2 and checking in with us today we’ve got the winners of the iHeart Radio Rising Star Campaign – Megan and Liz. So how are two doing today?

Liz Mace:: We are doing amazing! How about you?

Tommy2: I’m doing good. Did you have a good Memorial Day Weekend?

Liz Mace:: We did!

Megan Mace: We didn’t really do a lot, we kind of worked in the studios. But it was fun.

Tommy2: Now I saw some tweets about going to see the Chernobyl Diaries. Was that because you wanted to see a scary movie or you wanted to see Jesse McCartney on the big screen?

Liz Mace: Umm… both! Honestly like you can’t get any better than like a horror movie with Jesse McCartney.

Megan Mace: Yeah, it’s like our two favorite things. It’s like we have to see Chernobyl Diaries.

Tommy2: Now you two share quite a bit of love for that boy and his music, but I’ve never seen you guys cover his hit single Beautiful Soul. I think your gonna need to put that on the top of your to do list?

Liz Mace: That’s a really good idea. We’ve never even thought about that, but that’d be awesome. We definitely love some Jesse McCartney.

Tommy2: Until you guys do that cover, how about you two singing us the chorus for us right now just to give everyone a sampling of what that would sound like?

Megan & Liz: Okay… (sing)

Tommy2: I think I just came up with a winner for you, cause you guys don’t even need to practice – I mean that’s a cover, it’s in the bag.

Megan & Liz: (Laughter)

Liz Mace: Well thank you!

Tommy2: Okay, now on to the big news. Let’s talk about the iHeart Radio Rising Star Campaign. That ended up having quite a dramatic finish, so I’ll bet you’re very appreciative of everyone that voted for you, huh?

Megan Mace: Oh my gosh, seriously, like are fans are literally like… they can take over the world. Liz and I are convinced they could take over the world. They like literally pulled it together so awesome in the end and they’re just awesome people and we’re so excited that we won.

Tommy2: The big prize for winning that is getting to open at the iHeart Radio Music Festival, but there’s also a bunch of other things as well. Including opportunities with Macy’s. Can you share more about those?

Megan Mace: Yes, we will be playing at, I think… how many shows is it?

Liz Mace: Four

Megan Mace: I want to say four shows at Macy’s in like four different cities all across the country, and… so yeah, we’re super, super excited for that, and yeah, it’s going to be amazing.

Tommy2: And since the iHeartRadio (Campaign) is a Clear Channel promotion, being involved with them probably helped you in terms of your relationships with several radio stations as well?

Liz Mace: Yes, and like we just… it was really good timing because we just got off of the radio tour and so when we when we went back to a couple of the Clear Channel stations that were in the area it was like a “oh my gosh, we keep talking about that – like you guys won it, congrats.” Like it was a really, like – okay, it kind of solidified who we are and put us in the back, out of the back of their minds and kind of into the front.

Tommy2: Right, you guys had already made your first impression and they actually already knew who you were.

Megan Mace: Yeah!

Tommy2: Now what’s the status with Are You Happy Now, since that radio tour you went on started back in February?

Liz Mace: Yes, it’s like it’s on a few stations and we’re still hoping it gets added to a few more and you know we still. It’s still our single right now.

Megan Mace: And we’re really happy with it as our intro to radio because we feel like it’s a good message. And you know it’s very like us. So, we feel like even if it doesn’t go Top 10 it’s find because it’s like us as artists. It’s a good intro, like it might not be like our hit, but it was a good starting point.

Tommy2: Exactly, it’s something to get your name out there and of course for fans wanting to hear that track get some spins, I recommend checking out Top 20 on 20 on XM radio, cause I saw they played Are You Happy Now just about an hour ago.

Megan Mace: Yeah, they’ve been awesome. They’ve been showing that song so much love and they’re like the coolest people ever over there and we’re really really thankful for them and everything they’ve been doing for us.

Tommy2: And of course I want make sure to highlight 107.5 The River in Nashville as well cause they’ve given you two a ton of support.

Megan Mace: Yes, oh my gosh – The River is amazing and everybody at The River is amazing. I mean like they obviously put us on their Acoustic Christmas last December, like and then you know they threw us a party for winning the contest.

Liz Mace: They got us a cake!

Megan Mace: They got us a cake, and it’s just like – oh my gosh, they’re so great.
