Interview: Pia Mia and Bella Thorne

Tommy2: How’s it going it’s Tommy2 and today we’re being joined by Pia Mia and Bella Thorne. So what are you two up today?

Bella Thorne: Well we were just at the doctor’s office, you know just check up, blood pressure all that fun stuff.

Tommy2: Staying healthy, right?

Bella Thorne: Yeah, staying healthy.

Tommy2: Okay, now back in June of 2010, I got an email asking if I’d be interested in interviewing a drop dead gorgeous 12 year old named Bella Thorne. We talked and you were just learning some of the dances for Shake it Up. Bella does that feel to you like it’s been two years since that?

Bella Thorne: You know it actually… it doesn’t. To be honest, I’m so shocked that we’re going to be going into our third season pretty soon. It’s definitely a wonderful experience and I’ve had so much fun doing this show and I’ve learned so much and I’ve become a really hard working person and I appreciate that, especially for myself. And you know I’ve been through a lot of stuff and all the cast members of Shake It Up they’re like my family and I don’t have a lot, so they are my family I could say. And it’s kind of just… I’m really thankful and humbled by the fans, they’ve stayed with the show and they like it and they want to watch it and we make them laugh. And you know to make them smile is why we do it, so, it’s mesmerizing.

Tommy2: Now after the interview, I started following you on Twitter and couldn’t help but notice Pia since you’re tweets mentioned her quite a bit. Pia why don’t you talk about your friendship with Bella and how far that goes back.

Pia Mia: Well we’ve know each other for about two years. We met at dance class

Bella Thorne: Right before I started Shake It Up.

Pia Mia: Yeah, it was right before she got Shake It Up. And they were playing this music that we could like stretch out or like do our freestyle or whatever just to warm up. And I saw Bella and she was just like breaking it out in the middle of the floor, I was like… I like this girl! She was so good, she was so awesome and has like a million things to do for freestyle. I was really, really shocked actually. I didn’t know that you could do that many things in freestyle and I’m so happy that I was here to see Bella before she got Shake It Up, and just to watch her grow through the whole show.

Tommy2: So Bella, not only did Shake It Up bring you some success, but it brought you a new friend.

Bella Thorne: Oh yeah, my best friend.

Tommy2: Okay, now lets get down to business here. I’ve got some fun short questions for each of you… but to mix things up here a little, we’re going to have Pia – you’re going to answer Bella’s questions, and Bella – you’ll take Pia’s. And then after it we can find out who’s right.

Bella Thorne: Okay.

Pia Mia: Okay.

Tommy2: Now one place I know the two of you like is Disneyland. So Bella, what’ is Pia’s favorite ride?

Bella Thorne: She likes Splash Mountain, we both like the mountain rides.

Tommy2: Okay. And the other?

Pia Mia: Bella’s favorite ride is Space Mountain, and I’m really scared of that ride.

Tommy2: And on the topic of Disney. Who is each others favorite princess? Bella who’s Pia’s?

Bella Thorne: I think it’s Cinderella.

Pia Mia: Bella’s favorite Disney character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Tommy2: Now if you guys could go see any concert right now. Who would it be? Bella who would Pia want to go see?

Bella Thorne: Chris Brown for Pia.

Pia Mia: Bella’s would be Drake.

Tommy2: Okay, lastly here, how about a fashion accessory? What’s the one thing the other one wants to have?

Pia Mia: Bella’s is shoes.

Bella Thorne: Pia’s is rings. She loves rings, and she loves one ring in general that my brother gave her for a promise ring and they’re all promisey with each other, so that’s cute.

Tommy2: Now last year, the two of you got together to record a song Bubblegum Boy. When did that exactly happen, and was that something that you guys had been planning for awhile?

Bella Thorne: Well Pia had already, she already recorded it and she showed it to me and I was like wow Pia, that’s a really great song. You know, you do a great job on it and then she was like why don’t you come in and you do some verses with me. And so, that’s basically how we did it. We wanted to do a song together for quite sometime, she’s my best friend and she’s got an amazing voice. So, I kind of like used to work with Pia in that sense. So, that’s basically how we got to do Bubblegum Boy.

Tommy2: And who worked on that song? Like who was the producer for that and stuff?

Pia Mia: Umm, Babyface. We recorded it… with Babyface under FaceTone and with Toni Dixon and Khristopher Riddick-Tynes and Alvin Isaacs. So, they all were there…

Bella Thorne: and watching us, staring us down.

Pia Mia: Right… and just getting to record songs with your best friend makes everything. Doing anything with your best friend makes is all that much better. So it was a lot of fun.

Tommy2: And that can be somewhat of a stressful situation – true. So that’s probably nice.

Bella Thorne: oh yeah, it’s so much better knowing that you have someone to fall back on.
