Tommy2: Hey it’s Tommy2 and today checkin in with us we have is Elizabeth Gillies from Victorious. Elizabeth how are you doing today
Elizabeth Gillies: I’m doing great, how are you?
Tommy2: Doing good! Now first off I want to congratulate you on the huge success that Victorious has been having.
Elizabeth Gillies: Aww, thank you!
Tommy2: Has it been a whirlwind or what?
Elizabeth Gillies: It’s been crazy, you know I’ll be going into stores or going in to bagel shops and like little kids will follow me in and they’ll kind of be intimidated by me because I play a mean girl so to speak on the show. But then they finally talk to me and it’s very sweet. The support has been totally amazing and all the kids are so sweet, so it’s been beautiful.
Tommy2: And of course like I said the ratings have been getting bigger and bigger. And of course you guys just had a huge Saturday night with all of the Nickelodeon shows getting huge numbers.
Elizabeth Gillies: Yeah!
Tommy2: Of those other shows, you know like the halo of Nick shows that surround you, what is your favorite show?
Elizabeth Gillies: My favorite, ummm… iCarly. I love iCarly. I watch iCarly and Victorious you know they’re back to back a lot of the time so I always make a point to watch both of them. I love Dan Schneider who is the writer and executive producer of both shows. I love his humor and just his offbeat comedy. It’s so much fun to watch so, iCarly is definitely my other favorite next to Victorious.
Tommy2: Yeah definitely he’s a huge formula to that show and he’s very well respected in the industry.
Elizabeth Gillies: Yeah, absolutely!
Tommy2: Could you describe how you actually got involved with Victorious? Like what lead up to it?
Elizabeth Gillies: Yeah, I was in a Broadway show last year called Thirteen, and so I was going in and auditioning a lot for Nickelodeon a lot for many years, even before I did that. But that kind of putting me on the map so to speak with them. So I was going in a ton and we just didn’t have the right project yet and you know I would go in there all the time and they were joking that they were trading my head shots around like baseball cards it was so often I was in there. So finally the role of Jade came around and Victorious came around and at the time it was called The Untitled Victoria Justice Project. And then they liked me and I kept going in I screen tested for Dan and everyone in California and then it lead to me getting the show. So it’s been a blessing.
Tommy2: And that had to be kind of cool cause you probably knew more about the show that you would’ve since everyone knew that it was going to be starring Victoria Justice and with her being on Nick that was kind of obvious.
Elizabeth Gillies: Right, right, right.
Tommy2: Where do you see the show going, I mean this is still it’s first season and all. Musically it’s got a huge potential and stuff like that. Do you see the music being a huge part of the show?
Elizabeth Gillies: Yeah, absolutely we have some amazing people writing for our show and the music, I mean I know only a few songs have aired so far but there’s amazing music to come and I know there’s going to be even more music packed into the second season, so the music is just a huge aspect of it. And there’s lots of you know fun twists and turns that are characters take cause we’re such a wacky group of characters. You know you never know where we’re gonna to go, so we go to lots of fun places and I think everyone is going to really enjoy watching us all develop and interact with each other in the future.
