Lemonade Mouth Cast

May 29th, 2011

Tommy2: Hi gang! What happens in your new movie, Lemonade Mouth?

Hayley Kiyoko: Lemonade Mouth is a movie about five kids who aren’t the most popular students in school. They meet in detention and they end up forming a band. The rest is musical history!

Tommy2: How would you describe your characters in the movie?

Adam Hicks: My character is a guy called Wen. Wen plays the keyboard in the band and he also raps. He’s a very musical guy, just like me in real life.

Bridgit Mendler: I play a girl called Olivia in the movie. Olivia is a shy student, but she ends up becoming the lead singer and songwriter in the band.

Naomi Scott: I play Mohini, who is the band’s bassist.

Hayley Kiyoko: And I play Stella, who is the rebel guitarist in the group.

Tommy2: What about you, Blake? Who do you play?

Blake Michael: I play a guy called Charlie in the movie. Charlie is the drummer in the band and he’s a very laid-back, outgoing character. He always sticks up for his friends when they’re in trouble, so he’s a great guy to be around.

Tommy2: Are you into music, like your characters in Lemonade Mouth?

Bridgit Mendler: Of course we are! I’ve just signed a deal with Hollywood Records, so I’m going to be releasing my own music soon – but everyone in the cast is musical. We all like completely different styles of music, but we really gel together as a band.

Tommy2: What music do you listen to at home?

Bridgit Mendler: At the moment, I really like Adele. She’s got an amazing voice and her songs are really beautiful – but I also listen to acts like Beyonce, Cee-Lo Green and Bruno Mars.

Hayley Kiyoko: I have an indie alternative background, so Fiona Apple is one of my favorite performers. I also love 90s bands like Blondie, The Cranberries and Berlin. The 1990s rock!

Tommy2: What about the rest of you?

Adam Hicks: I love all types of music, including rap, rock and British acts like The Clash and David Bowie. My dad is English, so he has a big influence on my life.

Blake Michael: I’m really into alternative rock. My dad has a great collection of music by The Beatles and Elton John, so I’m always rocking out to artists like that.

Naomi Scott: And I have a completely different taste to everyone else in the cast. I was brought up on gospel music, so I love artists like Kirk Franklin and Stevie Wonder, as well as old classics like Simon & Garfunkel. I also like some modern music, like Alicia Keys. I’m all over the place when it comes to music!

Tommy2: How musical were you on the set of the movie?

Adam Hicks: We were incredibly musical! We had the time of our lives making the movie and it was an incredible experience – but it was especially amazing because we were musicians on and off the set. After a long day of shooting, most actors on a movie set just want to go home to bed – but we would sing, jam and play music into the night. It was awesome!

Tommy2: What else did you get up to when the cameras stopped rolling?

Bridgit Mendler: There were lots of movie nights and fun dinners during the making of Lemonade Mouth – but there were also water fights, game nights and pillow fights, too. We had a blast!

Tommy2: How quickly did you bond on the set?

Adam Hicks: We bonded on the very first day we met, which was really lucky. We did tons and tons of rehearsals before we started shooting, but I’m so glad we had great chemistry right from the start. We were a band on and off camera because we never wanted to be apart!

Tommy2: Can you let us into any secrets from the set?

Naomi Scott: I’ve got a great secret for you! Adam won’t say this himself, but he made up all of his character’s raps in the movie.

Blake Michael: His raps make me want to listen to the songs over and over again. They are amazing!

Naomi Scott: His rap on Determinate is so fast that it’s unbelievable! Nobody else can do it. He rocks it out amazingly, but he’s very modest.

Tommy2: What was your favorite scene to shoot in the movie?

Bridgit Mendler: There are so many fun scenes in the movie, but Breakthrough was really enjoyable to shoot. Breakthrough is the band’s big Madison Square Garden performance, so it was a huge musical number.

Blake Michael: It was amazing! We were performing on a giant stage with backing dancers and huge 40-foot screens behind us.

Naomi Scott: There were flames flying into the air and dancers doing back-flips everywhere. We had so much fun filming that day.

Hayley Kiyoko: We were rocking out for 12 hours solid!

Tommy2: Were you happy with your Breakthrough performance?

Naomi Scott: We were very happy!

Adam Hicks: Yeah, it was amazing. The feeling you get after a performance like that is hard to explain. It was awesome. It was the best day ever. We never wanted it to end!

Tommy2: Would you like to do more performances like your big Breakthrough gig?

Bridgit Mendler: That would be amazing!

Adam Hicks: We’ve all got our fingers crossed that the movie does really well so that we can show off our talents on stage some more. We’d love to go on tour with Lemonade Mouth. That would be so cool! We did a performance for Good Morning America and it went really well, so we’d love to do it again. We’ve got no idea if a tour is on the cards right now, but we’d love it if it happened.

Naomi Scott: Bring it on!

Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four)

May 28th, 2011

Tommy2: What can you tell us about your new movie?

Alex Pettyfer: I Am Number Four is an action-packed adventure entwined with a romantic story – and I play the role of John Smith. John wants to be a normal kid, but he is from a different planet and he has been given this destiny of becoming a warrior. John tries to find out who he is and what he wants to do with his life, but he has a bit of a tough time with it all. I think a lot of people are going to relate to what he goes through in the story because it’s about an outsider trying to fit in. We’ve all been there.

Tommy2: When were you an outsider?

Alex Pettyfer: Well, I think we’ve all been in that scenario where we’ve felt like we were alone or different. Everyone goes through that.

Tommy2: What was it like to work with Dianna Agron on the movie?

Alex Pettyfer: It was great. Dianna has an old-school movie star quality to her and I had an amazing time working with her, but I also had a great time working with the rest of the cast. Everyone on the set was amazing.

Tommy2: Who else stars in the movie with you?

Alex Pettyfer: An actress called Teresa Palmer is a young ball of energy and we also have a guy called Callan McAuliffe who is great. Working with everyone on the movie was phenomenal. We all fit together really well.

Tommy2: Can you live a normal life in Hollywood?

Alex Pettyfer: You can live a very normal life here. Los Angeles is a very magical place when you take the entertainment industry out of it. You have beautiful beaches and amazing mountains here. I’m a big rock climber. I head out into the mountains whenever I have free time. It’s amazing.

Tommy2: What else do you like about California?

Alex Pettyfer: There’s so much to explore here – and I love exploring. There are not many places in the world where you can get to the beach in an hour, the desert in two hours and snowboarding or skiing in three hours. You can do all that in California.

Tommy2: It sounds like you’re a very active, outdoors guys… Did you enjoy tackling such a physical role in I Am Number Four?

Alex Pettyfer: I loved it. I jumped off a cliff backwards for I Am Number Four, which was pretty cool. I’d never done that before. It took seven takes from different angles and luckily there were no injuries. I came close, though. My head nearly hit the rock at one point.

Tommy2: How high was the cliff dive?

Alex Pettyfer: The cliff was 60 feet high and it was extremely memorable. You know what? I’m a big kid at heart. Not many guys get to experience what I’ve experienced. I get to run around a movie set with guns and I get to jump off cliffs. It’s amazing. I had the time of my life shooting the movie.

Tommy2: How much training did you do for the role?

Alex Pettyfer: I spent months preparing for the stunts in the movie. It was a really physical role, but it was also a lot of fun. We practiced and practiced and practiced – but it was still a very nerve-wracking experience. I loved every minute of it.

Tommy2: Why did you sign up for the movie?

Alex Pettyfer: I was really excited to work on the movie for a number of reasons. First of all, I really wanted to work with the director, D.J. Caruso. He’s incredible. Plus, I really liked the premise of the movie. It’s been amazing.

I AM NUMBER FOUR is Available on Blu-ray & DVD May 24th!
