Honor Society management backpeddles on making fans pay for meet and greets, Selena Gomez and The Scene’s Kiss and Tell CD Release Party, Push Play peaks at 18 on iTunes Pop charts, Clips online from the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party, Ashley Tisdale checks in from the set of Crank It Up, Kate Voegele talks about songwriting, Cassie from The Rubyz gets her copy of Brand New Eyes by Paramore, Disney Channel orders additional third-season episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place

September 30th, 2009

Sometimes the news isn’t always good, but it can change things for the better. Yesterday, we couldn’t help but notice Honor Society did a 180 when they tweeted that for last nights show there would be a “Free Meet & Greet”. Prior to the post, tweets by fans were popping up with them asking the question, is it true that they don’t meet with fans anymore? We’re pleased to see that the story that had originally appeared on T2 was able to gain traction and that ultimately, this change is a good thing for Honor Society. Shortly after the “Free Meet & Greet” mention, the group received a significant amount of retweets. What can we say, people get excited to meet up and coming talented bands and… that creates quite a buzz. Hopefully, it won’t be temporary… at least until they’re playing sold out arenas. (Please note we firmly believe that the decisions to sell meet and greets were that of management, not Alexander, Andrew, Jason or Michael).

Selena Gomez and The Scene‘s Kiss & Tell CD release party took place last night in Hollywood and was hosted by Onitsuka Tiger. Some of the guests that attended were David Henrie, Jennifer Stone, Debby and Chase Ryan, Jason Dolley, Savannah, Zoe Myers, Nick Braun, Jeanette McCurdy, Kevin Schmidt, Savvy and Mandy, Samantha Droke, the cast of Secret Life of the American Teenager, Sterling Beaumon, Madison Pettis, Tiffany Thornton, and V Factory minus Wesley Quinn who was occupied choreographing for Ashley Tisdale’s new music video for Crank It Up.

Lookin’ good! Yesterday Push Plays Found made it all the way up to #18 on the iTunes Pop Charts!

Maximo TV has added several clips online from the Red Carpet at the 7th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party. Here’s a list of some of our faves you might want to check out.

Is there anyone that works harder than this girl? Ashley Tisdale has a new video from the set of here new music video for Crank It Up. Click here to watch the message for her fans.

In a new webisode posted to her official YouTube page, Kate Voegele dishes about her songwriting process, her musical influences, and her role as musician Mia on the hit TV show One Tree Hill. Kate says she writes her songs based upon real-life events, and lists singer/songwriter Patty Griffin among her heroes. And though she loves working on One Tree Hill, she insists that music is her main love and focus. Watch the full video here.

So who got their copy of Paramore‘s Brand New Eyes? Yesterday we heard that Cammie from The Rubyz was on the fast track to Best Buy to grab a copy.

Disney Channel has ordered additional third-season episodes of its Emmy Award-winning comedy series, Wizards of Waverly Place, bringing the episodic count to 86 episodes thus far.

The Honor Society Fashionably Late Tour visits Nashville, New Releases, Holiday Songs for Hollywood,

September 29th, 2009

Last night, Honor Society‘s Fashionably Late Tour paid a visit to The Rutledge in Nashville, TN. And… just like other previous shows, it was Fashionable Late. Doors opened a full hour behind schedule.

Starting things off, fans were in for a first as the Fashionably Late tour featured Dutch pop star Esmee Denters, who will be opening for Honor Society the rest of their tour. Not only was it her first night on the tour, but also her 21st Birthday! Just like many opening nights, the sound was significantly off with the vocals and guitar mixes significantly lower than they should’ve been. Odds are that this will be fixed shortly. Seeing her backed by a three piece band was a treat, although visually they didn’t do much to energize her set. Her cover of Eyes For You was full of energy as well of her single Outta Here.

Esmee Denters – Runtime 24 Minutes
Pros: Your first chance to see an original YouTube star in the states with a live band.
Cons: Backup band’s performance wasn’t visually up to par. The most excited they were to jam was after Esmee walked off stage.
Best song: Eyes For You

1. My Destiny
2. Diva
3. Just Can’t Have It
4. Eyes For You (Cover)
5. Gravity
6. Outta Here

One thing’s for sure, in the last week Honor Society has ironed out many of the wrinkles from the opening night of the tour. This time, from the first note to the last they were on. Each member was exceptional and Michael continues to show his gift with nearly flawless vocals, backed with strong passion for each song. In addition, you can’t help but love what Alexander brings to the show. One thing was very obvious with this show – Honor Society are miles from being labeled a “new act”, but instead should be considered a seasoned band with very talented musicians and capable of displaying an energy on stage that you can’t teach.

In the middle of the set, it was hinted that there was a special guest at the show and the song Here Comes Trouble was dedicated to her. It was none other than Jessie James…. and yeah, she’s a pistol! Also in attendance was Zach Carter of the Carter Twins, Jordan Pruitt was on the guest list but apparently didn’t show.

Unfortunately, there were still some issues with the tracks. The background vocals went out during Over You and Michael deserves credit for quickly asking the crowd to sing along (to cover it up). Definitely the low point of the night occurred when they performed a cover You Really Got Me by The Kinks. The backing tracks failed to play during the opening riff which exposed the fact Jason’s guitar was barely audible with the track being about 75% louder than what was actually being played “live.”

Honor Society – Runtime 58 Minutes
Pros: Amazing performance
Cons: The act is no longer meeting with fans. I doubt the group is to blame for this but their careers are going to get much worse, before getting better with this policy.
Best song: See U In The Dark

1. Full Moon Crazy
2. Sing For You
3. Two Rebels
4. Where Are You Now
5. My Own Way
6. Here Comes Trouble
7. You Got Me Goin’ Now (Cover)
8. Don’t Close The Book
9. Why Didn’t I
10. Nobody Has To Know
11. Over You
12. See U In The Dark

New Interview with Superchic[k]‘s Matt Dally, KSM contest, Honor Society takes an odd detour for Emily Osment, Zoe Myers presents at the Malibu Music Awards, Esmee Denters heads out on her first U.S. Tour, Tamar Kaprelian to finish up the Drive Out Hunger Tour this week

September 28th, 2009

Today, we have a brand new interview with Matt Dally of Superchic[k]. Click here to listen in as he talks with Tommy2 about their new tour, shooting the Cross The Line video, their lyrical approach and his thoughts on Demi Lovato being a fan of their music.

Some more great free stuff! Last week KSM released their debut album Read Between The Lines. We’ve got five copies to give away and we’ll also throw in a KSM t-shirt as well. For complete details on how to enter, click here.

An interesting choice in routing? It’s not often you see a group go from what could be a 90 mile drive to a 4,000 mile roundtrip to add just one show. Was there something more than Emily Osment at The Historic Fillmore in San Francisco, CA for Honor Society? Hmmmm… here’s an overview of their journey over the last three days.

On Saturday, Zoe Myers had the opportunity to be a presenter at the Malibu Music Awards. Prior to finding what award she would be presenting, she had noticed P!nk‘s name on the list. Upon arrival she was notified that she’d be awarding the Best Female Rocker Award (which P!nk was nominated for). Unfortunately, P!nk was unable to attend, so Zoe got to accept it on her behalf. When asked about the opportunity she said “I love being a part of things like this… that honor music and music lovers”.

Tonight Esmee Denters joins Honor Society’s Fashionably Late Tour for her first tour of the U.S. at The Rutledge in Nashville, TN. For those of you that can’t make it to the show, you’ll want to head over to the venue’s website. They usually stream all of their shows online… if we’re lucky, we’ll all be able to see how the show goes. Here’s the link to their video stream.

This week, Tamar Kaprelian finishes up the The Cheesecake Factory’s, Drive Out Hunger Tour. So far she’s traveled across the country raising hunger awareness and over 68,000 cans of soup have been collected!

Fox will be releasing Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian on December 1st as a standard single disc DVD, a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, and a limited edition standard DVD two pack with bonus Monkey Mischief disc with over 30 minutes of even more bonus features including cast and crew commentary, six deleted scenes with an alternate ending, a gag reel, and more.
