Daily Kos has an interesting synopsis on how the RIAA has foiled Internet Radio webcasters. It turns out Sound Exchange (RIAA) is allowed to collect royalties on any song streamed over the internet even if an artist/song writer doesn’t want them to. Even more puzzling is the fact that artists can offer songs as a free download, but can’t offer them to be played on the radio for free? For more details, click here.

Today Paulie Litt will be performing for XM Kids and the Children’s Miracle Network in Los Angeles, CA.

Tomorrow, Corbin Bleu will appear on Good Morning America. Then he’ll be off to do a handprint ceremony at Planet Hollywood in Times Square.

Despite the fact that the online voting was not available, the Jonas Brothers still rocked the vote on the Radio Disney Music Mailbag. Out of all of the listeners that called in, only 2 percent didn’t like their new song Hold On. A bunch of fans that made it on-air got to brag about how well the guys enjoy meeting their fans.

USA Today has added two great pictures from the Disney Channel Games of the stars of High School Musical and Miley Cyrus to their photo gallery. To view them, click here (photos 19, 20).

MySpace has officially launched their social networking site in China. One big difference most users will notice is that each page has a button to report misconduct. They’ve defined that by labeling posts that “undermine national unity, spreading rumors or disturb the social order.” Wow… that’s not the MySpace I know?

High School Musical 2 premieres on August 17th. So what’s the latest on what’s sure to be the hottest show of the summer? You can find out in a new blog at the Orlando Sentinel which also contains news video clips from the stars. To check it out, click here.

On Friday, Arbitron made history by receiving the ratings from its new Portable People Meter. In the past, people that were surveyed filled out a diary based on what they listened to. With this new technology they just wear a device that records their listening habits to create ratings. One big change is that now they will be measuring people 6 and older (in the past they only measured those 12 and up). This new measurement could put a lot of pressure on Radio Disney who previously blamed their poor ratings on the fact that their ‘audience’ was measured. In fact in most markets their ratings are so low they can’t even be accurately measured. So what happens now when their scores are too low to be measured? One things for sure, it won’t be good for business.

Earlier this week, American Idol launched a two-night, star-studded extravaganza to help fight poverty in the U.S. and Africa. On Wednesday night, the contestants were joined by an incredible lineup of celebrity guest stars, including Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Earth, Wind & Fire, Josh Groban & the African Children’s Choir, Il Divo, Quincy Jones, Annie Lennox, Rascal Flatts, and Carrie Underwood. For a limited time, you can get audio and video downloads of these performances, plus bonus content from the show. This exclusive music is available only on iTunes and all net proceeds go to the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund. To check it out, click here.

Aly & AJ for Breakfast? You can find them on millions of Post Honeycomb Cereal boxes that are in stores now. The box included details on how you could join this sister act in concert.
