MTV.com has a new article about the Jonas Brothers that includes an interview with Joe Jonas. Eighteen-year-old singer Manika will be releasing her debut, five-track EP entitled The Middle of Hollywood EP, under Wamaframa Records/CCA Entertainment and distributed by BDG / RED (A division of SONY Music Entertainment) on May 22nd. Yesterday the singer announced that she’ll be heading out on the road for 20 shows with One Direction this summer.

BONGO has launched a custom Facebook application called: How Well Do You Know Your Best Friend on the BONGO Facebook page. Disney Channel and Disney XD have announced an open casting call in Kansas City, MO, in search of talented young actors and actresses with comedy skills, and singers and dancers with acting ability, who will be given the opportunity to audition for authorized casting directors.

Registration and auditions will be held on May 26th from 9 am – 3 pm at the Kansas City Convention Center, located at 301 West 13th Street in Kansas City, MO. An application and monologue will be provided upon arrival. Parking is available in surrounding parking lots for a $7 – $10 fee. (Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian).

Last Friday, the wildlife conservation organization, WildAid held their annual gala in San Francisco, A. Everlife: Good, how are you?

Tommy2: I’m doing good now I just want to make sure of one the thing real quick here. Julia did you get your coffee this morning?

Julia: I actually just walked over to the table to pick it up. So yes.

Tommy2: I learned in your live chat the other day that it’s always important to keep little sister is always happy, so.

Julia: Yes!

Amber: Yes, it definitely is.

Tommy2: So what’s on the agenda for today?

Julia: Well we were just going to have a little bit songwriting and I think at the end of every week we’ve been in this process of doing a new record, the three of us kind of sit together and talk about what we’ve done in the last 15 years. We’ve been taking a lot of trips down memory lane lately, I think that’s what our Fridays have turned into is just sitting around with some coffee and talking about that.

Tommy2: Well that definitely has a lot of inspiration packed in all those memories I’ll bet.

Julia: Yeah, definitely.

Tommy2: Now earlier this month you launched a Kickstarter project for your final album, why don’t you just give a quick overview about that?

Sarah: Well, we decided at the beginning of this year that we wanted to do another record as Everlife. Which we’re really excited cause we took the previous year off and just kind of did some personal stuff and recoup I guess you could say over the last fifteen years. And we sat down and we were like we really want to do this new project but we have so many people asking you know, when are they going to get new music and how they can help and be involved and so we decided to go through Kickstarter which is the way that you can raise funds for anything that you’re doing but, people can be involved. So you can really feel like you’re a part of it and there’s incentives that we have as well, so whatever dollar amount that you decide to donate you get something cool for it too which is awesome, but we’re just really excited to be able to have our fans and our friends and our family be involved and to help us along the way and be just as much as part of this record as the three of us are.

Tommy2: And was kicking off this whole thing a little scary for you, since it’s really leap of faith.

Amber: Yeah, it’s definitely a different experience and wow, it is a leap of faith because when the three of us decide at the beginning of this year to do this record. You know we’re just like okay, well we’re in the same boat as a lot of independent artists out there, where are we going to get the money? And it just kind of came down to the fact of us going, well we could go chase after some labels and we could go try to find someone to back us or we could retain everything and in our creative, like keeping our creative right do the record we’ve always wanted to do and have our fans that have been with us from the beginning be part of it. So while it’s an odd kind of thing to be raising funds for anything that you’re doing. It’s been overwhelming but the response has been great and we told our fans last… well, I guess you saw on the chat, we’re just like – it’s the slow and steady crawl. Slow and steady win the race. Like we’re really excited about all the things that are coming out of it. Not only in just raising funds, but we’re reconnecting with fans that we haven’t talked to in several years.

Sarah: And meeting new ones that we were never able to talk to.

Tommy2: And you just, Amber, you just hit on it there. You kind of mentioned the one thing in the past that you’ve talked about is that you’ve always someone to guide your choices and I’m sure that had to do a lot to do with like your music direction and things like that. Is that one of the biggest things driving you with this project is the fact that this is something you can own and control everything about?

Amber: Yes, 100 percent. Like all of the different labels that we’ve been with and our time with Disney were invaluable in teaching us not only about the industry but just about how to work well with people in our team. But we were kids, so that’s why a lot of decisions were made of us but as we started to find ourselves really creatively and individually we were like now we really know what we want to do and now we have the complete freedom to do that because we’re all co-producing the record with our friends at Zod Lounge (Todd Shay, Tom Michale and Brett Vargason). They’re just kind of opening the doors to let us do exactly what we want, and we’re really excited about this songs Tommy. They’re really like, we’re really reaching down and trying to bring out a lot of different issues that we’ve dealt with in our lives. Kind of like What’s Beautiful did with in our last EP. But also just kind of writing about specific memories that we’ve had and, and hopefully it will be an open door into the story of Everlife.

Tommy2: It’s great to see that you have an option like Kickstarter to use because, you know like you said you’ve been reflecting about the last 15 years and when most people think about you in the past they think of all the great things you have done, but there’s so many little things that they don’t see and how much the three of you have laid out there on the line and the things that just haven’t gone through. Is it refreshing to have this?

Amber: Yeah, definitely! It’s kind of therapeutic.

Sarah: I think the Kickstarter thing is crazy as it is and it definitely is a lot of faith, but we have a lot of that. We’ve never really done anything conventional but it’s really cool to know that at the end of the day we raised the funds cause we totally believed that we will. It’s cool to say we did this, you know like another thing that we’ve been able to accomplish, and with obviously so much help from the people that we care about and love.

Tommy2: And of course with new music, the next logical question the fans are always going to ask is, are you hoping to do some shows as well?

Yeah, I think we’re going to do a hometown show here in Nashville but as far as what the fall brings for us we we have a lot of individual things coming up that aren’t confirmed yet. So we’re excited to eventually sing out these new songs because when you write a song, that’s what you have in your mind is to be able to perform it so, hopefully at the end of the record process we’ll definitely be doing a show here in Nashville, but the rest of that I don’t know. We’ve kind of taken this one step at a time, we’ll see what kind of comes of it.
